Final Details

Event Parking

FREE parking will be in Broadway Acres, Axbridge Road Cheddar BS27 3DB (midway between Cheddar and Axbridge on A371) opposite the entrance to Broadway House Holiday Park (now known as Cheddar Woods). Parking will only be in Broadway Acres.

Sign – on / Registration

Will all riders proceed to the sign on area. It will be divided into 4 stations. For example;
A -J -K-T  and  U-Z  (also on the day entries and queries).  Rider numbers and zip ties  will be given when you give us your surname.  Please make sure you are in the correct queue. 

1. To Sign On collect your rider number and zip ties. Queue in the correct line corresponding with your surname. i.e.  A-J K-T   U-Z  (and on the day entries and queries)

2. When you have your rider number, proceed with your number, to collect your lanyard and timing chip.

3. ONLY when you are ready to leave, i.e. have your bike, helmet, telephone, money, spares, drink and food, been to the loo, had your last chat and snog etc. GO TO THE START where your timing chip on the lanyard will be swiped with your individual start time before you leave.

Start time

Staggered start from 6.30a.m. cut off start time 9.30 a.m. (approx).
Please register at the following times so that we can keep queues to a minimum

Gran Fondo (192km) 06.30 – 08.00 a.m
Medio Fondo (134km) 07.30 – 09.00 a.m
Piccolo Fondo (86km) 08.30 - 09.30 a.m

Start times are from 6.30 am – 9.30 a.m. If you arrive before your stated start time, you may have to wait.

On the day entries: please note only cash can be accepted, no credit cards or cheques.

Late arrivals for entering particularly the Gran Fondo, will only be allowed to enter the Medio Fondo, and late arrivals for the Medio will only be allowed to enter the Piccolo. Some people who arrive just too late will not be allowed to ride at all. All rider support is withdrawn at a reasonable time for all to have finished.

Route arrows

192km, 134km, and 86km routes.
Please note the position of our arrows. They are high to try and avoid them being tampered with. All Route Arrows for this event are YELLOW with black arrows, some are endorsed with S.H.G.F. (somerset hills gran fondo). We also identify with signage the split between the 192km, 134km and 86Km routes.

Feed and Timing Stations

Feed and Timing Stations for the events will be as follows:

Gran Fondo

  • 43m/72K: The Pines Café with toilets
  • 73m/118K: Blue Anchor Sea Front. Toilets 150 yards
  • 100m/160 Puriton Church Hall with toilets

Medio Fondo

  • 43m/72K: The Pines Café with Toilets
  • 64m/103K: Puriton Church Hall with Toilet

Piccolo Fondo

  • 35m/56K: Feed station at Puriton Church Hall

Medical cover

Use the emergency numbers on your final details for help. In a real emergency dial 999. We provide First Aid at start and finish plus two mobile emergency units.

Insurance

The event is covered by British Cycling. However we advise that participants should also have their own cover.

Facilities

Broadway House Caravan Park will be closed. So all Parking, Sign on, Finish, and toilets, will be in Broadway Acres, opposite to Broadway House (now called Cheddar Woods). Camping just two doors away at Waterside, or camping and hotel facilities in Cheddar Village one mile away.

Finish

When you return to the finish at Broadway Acres, after your ride, make sure you go to the clearly marked Finish area IMMEDIATELY. Ride to the first marshalls and get your timing chip “swiped”. Proceed a little further and get signed off to receive your time.

Please Hand In Your Timing Card And Lanyard

Your timing card MUST be handed into the organising team ON THE DAY and preferably at the finish. Even if you retire during the event. This is an essential safety requirement of the event and failure to do so could result in an unnecessary search by rescue organisations. There will be a charge of £30 and you could be disqualified from taking part in a future event.

Participants certificate

A certificate for all finishing participants will be available to download. Individual times will be posted on the web. It is also our intention that photographs will be posted on line.

Reminders

We advise all participants to carry spares, a mobile phone, I.D. some nutrition and emergency cash

All riders must wear a helmet.

None of the events are races. These are mass participation events only, and are not meant as a test of speed.

Please abide by the Highway Code at all times.

Insurance is null and void if all stipulations are not adhered to
