The routes have been designed to include a few flat sections but it is about maximum output with testing climbs and descents. Both the Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo routes include the breathtaking Mendip, Quantock and Exmoor hills. This event is about comaraderie, fun, good cheer and natural beauty, that are the heart and soul of cycling.
The usual maps, timing and number boards will be provided on the day at registration. Medical cover at the start and finish location will be available, and backed up with mobile support. Third party insurance is provided by British Cycling. It is also advised that all participants provide their own insurance. Please carry your own I.D. mobile phone and emergency cash. Regular feed stops on route will keep our participants well supported with food and drinks, and mechanical support. (please be prepared to pay for any spares from feed stops – or roving technician support)
These events are mass participation rides, so start times will be staggered from 6:30am. Each rider will be provided with a credit card type (timing device) on a lanyard worn around the neck. There will be a £30 charge for all cards lost broken or missing. These are punched at the beginning with your start time and must be punched at all feed stations around your route. When you finish the card must be swiped and then handed in, to obtain your correct time.
Although timing is used, the purpose for this is that all participants can see the time and distance they rode their event in. This is not a race and no prizes are awarded. Please note number boards are used, so our support and facilities are exclusive to you.
Start and finish will be at Broadway Acres, opposite the Cheddar Wood Holiday Park (formely Broadway House). Car Parking and Toilets but no showers, will be provided at Broadway Acres. Sorry no camping but this is available at Waterside (2 doors away).
Free parking is available at Broadway Acres, Axbridge Road Cheddar BS27 3DB opposite the main entrance to The Cheddar Wood Holiday Park (midway between Cheddar and Axbridge on A371)
Static and Mobile Medical Cover is provided by the Avon and Somerset Cliff Rescue.
Our chosen charity is Avon and Somerset Cliff Rescue. Why not get yourself sponsored by family and friends and support this cause, whilst having a fun day out.
